Alumni are warmly invited by the Barcelona GSE Research Office to attend the Barcelona GSE Lecture by Hélène Rey on "The International Monetary System and the Role of the United States" at Banc Sabadell Tower in Barcelona on April 19, 2018.

Hélène Rey is the Lord Bagri Professor of Economics at London Business School and a member of the Barcelona GSE Scientific Council. Her research focuses on the determinants and consequences of external trade and financial imbalances, the theory of financial crises and the organization of the international monetary system. She demonstrated in particular that countries gross external asset positions help predict current account adjustments and the exchange rate.

About Barcelona GSE Lectures

Organized with support from Banc Sabadell, the Barcelona GSE Lecture Series has brought dozens of the world's top Economics scholars to Barcelona to share their research on a range of topics on specialized theory and practice. Speakers come from prestigious universities, central banks, and international organizations.

Talks are free and open to students, alumni and faculty of the Barcelona GSE community.

All lectures in this series are followed by a glass of cava where the audience can talk with the speaker and members of the faculty in a more casual setting. Everyone who wishes to attend must sign up through the form provided. Banc Sabadell requires a DNI/NIE/Passport number for security reasons. The students will have to bring their ID with them to the lecture.
